Something New for Young Adults:
Introducing i.d.9:16

1 Corinthians 9:16: “If I preach the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for necessity has been laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel.”

The i.d. stands for our identity as intentional disciples of Jesus Christ.

What is i.d.9:16?

i.d.9:16 is a response to what Pope Benedict called a “crisis of discipleship” in the Church today. In particular, Catholics in their 20’s and 30’s are leaving the faith at alarming rates. We want to raise up young adult communities of missionary disciples who are characterized by what Pope Francis called a “missionary impulse” or a deep ache to spread the Good News. Young adult ministry cannot simply rely on social events and activities but must provide a discipleship process. This takes place through formative teaching, the sacramental life of the Church, and within relationships of accountability, for the purpose of bringing believers to maturity in Christ.  i.d.9:16 seeks to establish communities of missionary disciples and to provide opportunities for young adults (20/30’s) to encounter Jesus Christ, hear His call, and decide to follow Him.  St. Thomas Aquinas is now a chapter of the i.d.9:16 community.

How to Get Involved

On the first Thursday of every month, i.d.916 will be hosting a discipleship night at St. Thomas Aquinas.  The evening will start with Mass, and will be followed by dinner and a speaker (via livestream) in conjunction with other chapters nationwide.

To RSVP for the next event (so we can plan for food), please go to the event on the YA Facebook page: or email the leadership team at

All young adults in their 20’s or 30’s, either married or single, and both parishioners and non-parishioners, are welcome.
