Let’s Observe Respect Life Month, October 2020

Sunday, October 4, is Respect Life Sunday and kicks off Respect Life Month. The theme of the month is “Live the Gospel of Life,” taken from St. Pope John Paul II’s 1995 encyclical. Fr. Bart studied this encyclical in seminary, and he recommends it for anyone who wants to understand Catholic teaching on life issues.

Fr. Bart also quoted extensively from the statement by Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, chair of the U.S.C.C.B. Committee on Pro-Life Activities, launching Respect Life Month.  The full statement is at https://www.usccb.org/news/2020/us-bishops-pro-life-chair-launches-respect-life-month-and-invites-catholics-live-gospel.

In addition to learning about Catholic teaching on the sanctity of life at all stages, there are other ways to get involved:

  1. Please join our Respect Life Team and participate in our Respect Life initiatives like 40 Days for Life!  Our parish has committed to praying on Thursdays in October from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Planned Parenthood.  Fr. Bart will be praying there at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 8.  All are welcome to attend.
  2. You are invited to pray the Rosary for Life ½ hour before each weekend Mass.
