How do we engage families at Mass? How do we encourage them grow their relationship with God to naturally want to attend Mass and become more active in our parish?
We’ve noticed that family are starting to attend Mass less and less, so at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, we’ve developed a new method for evangelazation in our parish. We started with taking a look at our youth education, realizing that we have a strong catechetical program with text books and classrooms, but it isn’t providing results.
So we are challenged with rethinking how we teach our faith to children to increase Mass attendance and build a strong love for Jesus Christ. Some of the methods we’re implementing include:
- Moving outside of the classroom and the traditional catechism model.
- Forming small faith groups
- Taking a step back from the catechetical material and introducing children to a relationship with Jesus
