Food Sunday Collection . . . More Than Food!

St. Thomas Aquinas has been collecting food for the Lussier Community Education Center (LCEC) for over 20 years, with each donation averaging nearly 600 to 800 pounds. Now, Covid-19 has created new and different needs at the Food Pantry. In the past, the LCEC welcomed donations of all kinds of canned foods. One of the major changes this past year is that, thanks to organizations like Second Harvest Foodbank, the shelves remain full of canned foods (especially green beans!).

The parish has been asked to be responsive to the updated needs. Until the end of 2021 the focus of our donations will move more towards cleaning and personal hygiene items with the hopes of only 40% of total donations being food items.

To avoid overstocking unneeded items, St. Thomas Aquinas is requesting parishioners to donate the following requested items for June’s collection.

  1. Laundry detergent
  2. Dish washing liquid
  3. Toilet paper
  4. Tooth paste/brushes
  5. Disposable diapers (sizes 4,5,6)
  6. Household cleaning supplies
  7. Canned chicken
  8. Pasta
  9. Pancake mix/syrup
  10. Diced tomatoes

As you MAKE SUNDAYS SPECIAL, consider reaching out to help support our neighbors. You can show your love for God and others by purchasing these needed items and/or by volunteering to help sort and deliver the donated items! Contact Denny and Sara at to learn more or to volunteer.
