Elizabeth
Ministry
When my husband and I
moved to
Louisiana
with our 10-month-old daughter, what I found to be most difficult
was to leave my mother behind. Who would answer the
never-ending questions of a new mother?
The answer is NO ONE!
Then we moved to
Denver
and I had a miscarriage before the births of Nick, Mike and Joan.
Who was there to help? NO
ONE! Our family
moved to
Maryland
where my uterus ruptured before the birth of Joe.
Who was there to help? MY
PARISH!
The
Elizabeth
Ministry
was created for women who found themselves isolated because their
families lived so far away. It
provided maternal mentoring for women during trying times in their
lives. Today the
Elizabeth
Ministry
has expanded to support not only just women but also men, children,
mothers, fathers, siblings, and grandparents.
I am looking for people who would be interested in making a
meal for a new family. Could
you answer questions for a new mother or teach her how to give the
new baby a bath? Could
you be a prayer partner with a family in need or be a member of a
prayer group? Could
you knit booties or do you have some craft talent to welcome a
newborn? Could you email
someone with a note of support?
There are so many opportunities for our parishioners to come
together as family to support each other.
With a parish family as large as ours, I worry
that someone may be missed. During
the time of tragedy or stress, more often then not, we feel alone
or abandoned. Let
someone be there to support you in this time of need.
Are you pregnant? Are
you having problems getting pregnant?
Are you reaching that ripe old time in your life, where you
find the covers on the floor in the middle of the night because you
are soooooooooo hot? The
Elizabeth
ministry can be there to support you!
If so, please e-mail Holly
or call me at 833-2606.
