St. Thomas Aquinas Outreach
"We, the faith community of Saint Thomas Aquinas . . . strive to serve each other in a spirit of compassion and love, and to enhance justice, peace, and healing . . ." from the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Mission Statement Service to God's world and the people in it is the central vocation of all Christians. As disciples we are called to be the hands that do Jesus' own work of proclaiming God's love through concrete actions. The Human Concerns Council which reports to the parish Pastoral Council, coordinates St. Thomas Aquinas outreach efforts to the world. The HCC gathers parish leaders and workers who are interested in a variety of social justice and human needs issues. Here are groups and projects we are supporting this year.

Contributions from St. Thomas Aquinas members help support the early teen summer learning program.

Elder Care

Contributions from St. Thomas Aquinas members help support a program that permits residents of care facilities to remain involved in the life of their community through outings, field trips, and participation in outside events.

Peace Corner Youth Center

Contributions from St. Thomas Aquinas members help support after-school programs for at-risk youth in Chicago.

Other Community Outreach

Additional outreach efforts to the wider community include

Community Meal Program: Once a month members of the parish provide the noon meal at Luke House on Madison's near east side.
Food Sunday Collections: On the 3rd weekend of the month, parish members bring food to Mass to donate to either the Wexford or St. Vincent de Paul food pantries.
Red Cross One-a-Week Club: Parish members are encouraged to donate blood to the Red Cross.
