Sad News from Our Parish Family

Maria Covarrubias, wife of Ismael Covarrubias, passed away on June 26.

Maria Covarrubias

On Tuesday, June 26, after a very long battle with lung disease, Maria Covarrubias, gave up her spirit in peace and was carried to heaven, where she is now greeted by Our Lady of Guadalupe, all the Angels and Saints, and Our Lord Jesus Christ.  Her faith has saved her.  Maria was the wife of Ismael Covarrubias, who has looked after our building and grounds with care and dedication for many years.

The St. Thomas Aquinas staff and all who know Ismael and Maria are heart-broken and sad. Maria will be missed greatly.  She was a faithful member of our parish family, a devout Catholic, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  We are grateful for her strong witness of faith, even in the face of suffering, illness, and hardship. You can read Maria’s obituary  at www.cressfuneralservice.com/obituary/263410/Maria-Covarrubias/.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this Saturday, June 30, at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas.  Visitations will be on Friday, June 29, from 4:30 to 7:00 PM at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, and on Saturday, June 30, at the parish from 9:00 AM until the start of the Mass. You may send sympathy cards to the parish, and we will make sure the Covarrubias family receives them.

Please keep Maria, Ismael, and the whole Covarrubias family in your prayers.
